A Blockbuster Adventure with Numerals
Step right up to the magical world of Ganit Mela 2024, where numbers dance, shapes sparkle, and students of Grade II embark on a thrilling escapade with their parents! This year’s fest was a celebration of math through games, challenges, and creativity, turning the abstract world of numbers into a playground of fun. As the doors of the ‘Ganit Mela’ swung open, a warm welcome and happy faces greeted the students and their parents. As the event began, the school’s Principal, Dr Vidya Sanath Kumar welcomed the audience with a warm smile, took the stage to deliver a heartfelt address. She spoke about the importance of making math fun and accessible for young learners. "When students experience the magic of math in their everyday lives—whether through games, stories, or hands-on activities—they build a foundation of confidence and curiosity. Today’s event is not just a celebration of math, but also of family, learning, and fun," she added, as the crowd applauded her inspiring words. With her encouraging speech the excitement in the air grew, students and parents teamed up to tackle math challenges while playing Bingo. Each correct answer uncovered a number on the Bingo card, bringing teams closer to shouting "BINGO!" It was a thrilling race, full of energy and learning, where math came alive with every square filled. Time-telling became a dance of joy at the Rock Around the Clock booth. Students spun large, colorful clocks while learning to tell time in this groovy game. In a sea of numbers, the Fishing for Multiplication game had students casting their fishing rods to catch numbered fish. But the catch was, they had to multiply the numbers on the fish! The Ducky in the Supermarket game introduced children to the concept of money and budgeting. At the Good Food, Good Mood station, students learned about measurement by cooking up some fun! Using spoons, cups, and scales, they measured ingredients for their make-believe dishes. The festival was also an opportunity for students to show off their creative math projects at the Project Display corner.
The Ganit Mela wasn’t just about numbers; it was about family bonding, creativity, and a love for learning. As parents and children worked side by side, the shared experiences deepened their connection to each other and to the fascinating world of mathematics. Every smile, every "aha!" moment, and every victorious cheer made this event a chartbuster success.
