Visit to Departmental Store
“Learning is not attained by chance; it must be sought for with ardor and attended to with diligence.”
To enrich learning, we at DPS Vapi believe in going beyond structured classroom teaching and learning. Also, to promote hands-on learning, all-around awareness and development, students of the Nursery class went on a field trip to a Departmental store on April 13.2023 as part of extended learning on the concepts like transactions, money and Food we eat. The inquisitive learners identified healthy and unhealthy food enthusiastically.
They were shown different sections of the supermarket like the fresh fruits & vegetable section, grain section, toiletry section, dairy/frozen food section, bakery, and canned items etc.
Teachers explained to them how things are shopped, billed and paid for. This taught them the feeling of responsibility. Some students shared their shopping experiences which they had with their parents. The little shoppers enjoyed the opportunity to see, smell and learn about commodities that are available in the mart and how it is purchased by people for their daily use.
On the whole, it was an enriching learning experience for each child. We hope these experiences will help our students to make the right choice when it comes to healthy eating.
