Monthly Activities
“Tell Me and I Forget,
Teach Me I May Remember,
Involve Me and I Learn.”
Benjamin Franklin
We at DPS Vapi believe in igniting great interest in learning the subjects and making the students aware of the latest developments in the world.
The students of classes III to VI were involved in many exuberant and engaging activities, which is to inculcate a sense of sportsmanship, leadership, team spirit, and meticulousness, in the refreshing month of August.
Mathematics was interestingly taught by multiple fun activities like making varied things using shapes (2-D), Calendars, Bills, understanding the Parts of a circle/making angles using toothpicks. Symmetrical patterns were introduced using watercolour and they discovered a way to find the LCM using the number line. Learning Tables was fun with the simple activity of Taming the tables in the class.
The best way to study Science is by experimenting with it. Students were taught to write the details from a train ticket, understand the Braille Scrip, and draw a water cycle. They also experimented on objects that float and sink in water. Social Science was also made simpler through some practical demonstrations like Jewellery and Toy Making (Clay) with the addition of learning the Important Latitudes on a Globe.
“Vocabulary is a matter of word-building as well as word-using.” The more students learn high utility words with dense vocabulary, the better they will be able to comprehend text. The children showcased their familiarity and consciousness of the language in Hindi and English, by designing a comic strip, poetry writing, debate, extempore, and multiple creative writing pieces. It gave them a chance to explore their new abilities and learn new things.
The enthusiasm and engrossment of the students played a vital role in successfully conducting these activities in the exuberant month of August.
